When Maddison walked into the Nemesis open day in April 2024, she wasn’t sure what to expect.
As she puts it:
“Modelling has always been something I have dreamed of, but I never had the confidence to drive me to do it. One day I just thought… I have nothing to lose and to just go for it.”
That moment of courage was the start of everything. Breaking into modelling wasn’t easy.
When Maddison signed, she was working 40 hours a week and wasn’t sure if she’d even have the time or availability to make modelling work.
She was honest about that challenge:
“I was uncertain if I would be able to get the time off to model or even be considered by the agency due to my slim availability.”
But with persistence and a lot of hard work, things shifted.
Nemesis continued sending opportunities her way, and Maddison delivered.
“I got plenty of work and opportunities whilst still working full time… making me able to drop down to part time and get even closer to my dreams.”
Every model remembers their first real breakthrough.
For Maddison, it came much sooner than she expected.
“When I saw myself on the Kickers billboard in the Trafford Centre… I wasn’t expecting it. I was with my sister and we were squealing and so excited. Of course we had to take pics!!”
It was a surreal milestone.
Maddison wants new models to understand that the journey isn’t all glamorous moments and billboards.
“One thing people don’t really see is the rejection. You’ll attend so many castings, film self-tapes, be optioned for so many jobs — but not always be successful.”
“It’s important not to take this personally or knock your confidence. Everyone’s journey looks so different… don’t compare yourself to your friends or any other models.”
Maddison’s journey is a reminder that sometimes the most life-changing moments begin with a single decision:
“I have nothing to lose.”
